Libby's ears are filled with black gunk after swimming. I was going to take a picture of the Kleenex but I was afraid someone would be to grossed out. They no longer look inflammed and red since switching foods nor do they smell bad. Any ideas, suggestions? She does not have mites as we've had that tested over and over again.
Ruby stinks. Like when she sleeps in a room with a door closed this next morning it's gross and it's not lab gas either. I've smelt her ears and nothing there. Do anal glands smell? I'm not sniffing there!
TJ is fine. Damn dog.

Do you have any ear wash? I have to clean Cody's ears because he gets gunk in them and they do not have any place to swim. I would just clean them out good since she seems to be fine and just keep checking them.

Turns out Ruby has something that is similar to athlete's foot. Due to the extreme heat and moisture her feet are funky. She hates her paws being touched on a good day so wiping them down with baby wipes is going to be a fun chore. For Libby she suggested using a hair dryer to dry out her ears. Man the things I do for my dogs!

Gwen, did you try the purple solution? Java's ears were awful, yeasty, took 3 weeks, almost a month of antibiotics to get them clear. We used the puple solution for a few months after and (knocking on wood) I haven't had to use it again. I do look at her ears and sniff them, but so far, she's good.

Hope Ruby's feet get better quick. You think Libby is gonna let you blow cool air in her ear?

Harley has never had an ear problem and thought he had an ear infection a few weeks ago but it was from the water in his ear and I wasn't being good with the ear wash after swimming. He would NEVER let me use a hair dryer on his ears and he is really easy going. They cant dry him at the groomers either he hates it but turn the vacuum on and he is right there to be sucked up! I have heard also that the purple solution is great. Fenway has really dirty ears from swimming and rolling in dirt . katie has that job also of keeping them clean. Hope Ruby's feet clear up for you. You do go above and beyond for these furkids how lucky are they!

I want to see you use a hairdryer on her ears! lol Even Song who loves all things electronic would not let me point a hairdryer at her ears

As for the anal gland thing...yes they stink!

Sounds like she has the doggy equivalent of swimmers ear. Song actually does get that sometimes. I really clean her ears out when she gets it and it normally goes right away after a day or so.
