She passed both days, and titled at the Fort Detroit Golden Retriever Club hunt test over the weekend.
I was even told by someone who shows their Labs in both AKC and UKC shows that she would do well in UKC shows. Wouldn't that be something?! I may have to look into that this Winter.Open in new window

Thanks, guys!
Tim, we do UKC hunt tests, but she wasn't quite ready in the Spring when most of the ones close to us are held. So we started with AKC.
So I am thinking confirmation shows with UKC, based on someone's opinion who shows in both venues.

Found out there is a dog training club a little over an hour from me who has confirmation classes every Tuesday evening!
I could start with Scarlett, add in Stevie, and when I get my new boy in Oct, I should know a bit more about what I'm doing!

Anyway, the weekend was a blast! I love running on Omega Farms. There is so much diversity in water and cover.

Congratulations to you and Scarlett, Katherine! Way to go!

UKC is a great place to start showing in conformation. It is very laid back and everyone helps everyone. I love UKC shows. A lot of the UKC Judges in my area are also AKC Judges. I do find at UKC the Judge offers lots of tips which really helps.

She gave me a moment, though! Thought for sure we were going to be out on the last water mark. She brought back the first one clean.
When I sent her for the second one, she went to the right, circling the pond instead of going into the water. I couldn't believe she was cheating the bank! Instead, she stopped halfway around and proceeded to potty! I had taken her a long walk around the circuit of airing places and she did nothing! When she was done, she trotted back to me, NOT something you want them to do. But she went right past me and into the water! Went out and got the duck and brought it back. By then the judges were laughing and teasing me about needing clean underwear! Lordy, I thought I would die as she was trotting back to me around the bank and didn't think my heart rate was going to go back down after she got into the water.
I got lots of compliments on my cool handling. Cool handling my big toe! I was frozen in place!
Dogs are going to be the death of me!

OMG That's great Catherine! Mia did something similar when I was training her for her WC on a training day. She totally freaked me out on the way in with the duck in her mouth. She stopped dead in her tracks, pee'd, (I also watered her beforehand, but she pee'd for what felt like HOURS) and then came right to me and waited for me to take the duck from her. Heart attack city. LOL

Congratulations on your new JH! Whooo HOO!
